ASW Fiddler Line Review | Georgia Bourbon Meets MGP Tradition
🎻 Georgia Soul, Indiana Tradition
This week on Tortured Bourbon, Heather and B dive into the ASW Fiddler Line from ASW Distillery in Atlanta, Georgia — a craft distillery that does things a little differently. The “Fiddler” concept celebrates their master distiller’s background as an old-time string musician and his approach to whiskey: take a great base, then fiddle with it until it sings.

ASW launched two parallel lines of whiskey — one distilled in-house using copper pot stills, and one sourced from across the country and refined through ASW’s finishing techniques. While they claim to pull whiskey from “everywhere,” most of it traces back to the MGP tradition we bourbon lovers know so well — sweet Midwest corn, balanced oak, and long vanilla-rich finishes.
🥃 What We Poured
Fiddler Chin Music – Fastball Release 1
Our warm-up pour, a familiar MGP-based expression with notes of caramelized sugar, dry oak, and sweet corn. Think classic bourbon character that leans traditional and balanced.
Fiddler Wheated Bourbon
A blend of ASW’s copper-pot-distilled high-malt bourbon (56% corn / 44% various malts) and their sourced high-wheat bourbon (51% corn / 45% wheat / 4% malted barley). Bottled at 92 proof, aged 6–7.5 years, non-chill-filtered, and slow-proofed for a softer finish.
Expect toffee, clove, orange peel, and sweet grain notes — a smooth mid-palate that bridges Georgia creativity with MGP reliability.
Fiddler Toasted Cask Strength
The powerhouse of the night. A 118-proof cask-strength blend aged 5 years and 8 months, finished with both medium and heavy toast barrels. Deep fall spice, toasted marshmallow, and pecan pie dominate the nose and palate. The finish stretches on with smoky oak and brown sugar — a campfire in a glass.
Fiddler Encore (Seelbach’s Pick)
Our closer, and it’s a showstopper. 120 proof, 6 years 8 months old, and drawn from Indiana barrels selected by Seelbach’s. Expect thick caramel, rich vanilla, and bursts of stone fruit and dark sugar. The balance and mouthfeel here prove why ASW’s Fiddler line has earned its awards.
🎤 Katie’s Corner: Tasting Notes Recap
Fiddler Wheated: Toffee, clove, and citrus zest with a touch of malt sweetness.
Toasted Cask Strength: Fall spice, toasted marshmallow, pecan pie — dessert in a dram.
Encore: Caramel, vanilla, fruit compote, and soft oak spice.
Katie keeps it tight, Heather keeps it nerdy, and B keeps it loud.
