How to Make the Best Old Fashioned Cocktail (Skip the Mix, Do It Right)
Old Fashioned Cocktail
Buying an Old Fashioned mix is like microwaving a Pop-Tart and calling it fine dining — sure, it’ll get the job done, but why settle? This drink was literally invented to be simple: whiskey, sugar, bitters, orange. Stir it up, skip the bottle of “pre-made whatever,” and boom — you’re sipping on tradition without the artificial aftertaste.
Recipe:
3 oz bourbon (we recommend Wild Turkey 101)
1 oz simple syrup (1:1 water + demerara sugar)
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Directions:
Add ingredients into a mixing glass with ice.
Stir until cold.
Pour over fresh ice.
Garnish with orange peel and a cherry.
