🥃 What Is the Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection?

The Master’s Collection is Woodford’s annual experimental series — a chance for the distillery team to step away from their flagship profile and explore new ideas, barrels, techniques, and flavor directions. Each release is completely different from the last, and Sweet Oak may be one of the boldest yet.

For this release, Woodford leaned into the growing Chinkapin oak trend — a white oak native to eastern and central North America — known for imparting deeper spice, earthiness, and darker oak-driven character than traditional American oak.

Translation?

This does not drink like standard Woodford.

Most bourbon relies on a familiar flavor lane: vanilla, caramel, baking spice, sweet oak. Chinkapin oak barrels push things darker and drier, amplifying:
